QUEENSLAND. RKISBANE, Wed. It ¡a extensively rumored on moro or less authority that Sir H. Tozer will be made Premier "on the return of Sir II. Nelson from England. The latter,, the rumor states, will probably go into the Upper House vice Sir Arthur Palmer, who it is stated is witling to resign. . It is said that several alterations will be made in the Cabinet should this change take place, and that Mr T. Glassey will be offered the portfolio for Labor which will be created. The Forecast of thc Weather Bureau states that rain of a inure or less showery nature may still be expected on the Northern sea-board with Southerly winds and patches of rough tea. Tho drought has now completely broken up in the Southern portion of the Colony.

NEW SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, Wed. Butler made a confession this morn- ing to a Warder in the jail. He stated that he had shot Lee Weller, because the latter refused to mate in with him after ho dirnxmnnrnf %hm*tha* mm~JiBi*imr) was unable to go on paying his share of the prospecting expenses. He asserts that Leo Weller made unpleasant re- marks and that in a fit of passion ha took up a revolver and shot him. He deines all knowledge of the other mur- ders, and says that he never wag in Western Australia under the name of Ashe. The condemned man < is eating "and sleeping well, and complains that no ; facilities are allowed him for writing his autobiography. It is understood that several offers have been made for Butler's journal should he be enabled to write it, one of them amounting to over £1000. lt is very unlikely that Butler will be allowed to write his history..
