Improvement. I Notwithstanding the dull seMon which the colony has experienced, and the loud cry of depression which has been everywhere heard for months past, great improvements have been in progress in this suburb, the Council having issued peniiite during the six months ending' 31st July for the erection of no. less than 142 houses, the majority of which are now completed and occupied. : With the sub division 01 tue ooum &nnanuaie ana ocner large estates' it is. probable this number will be exceeded '? during the' latter portion of. the municipal year, a fact that promises a con siderable increase of revenue for ' the munici pality, and consequently greater opportunity to the roads and pathways. The Counoil have now a large sum of money at their disposal, £5,000 of debentures having been fcadly taken as soon as placed on the market, aud property-' owners wishing to have permanent and useful improvements carried out could not do better than flood the Council with applicati...
