LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR'S COURT. Monday, 20th January, 1817. [?] [Newspaper Article] — The Hobart Town Gazette and Southern Reporter — 25 January 1817

LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR'S COURT, Monday, 20th January 1817   JEMOTT versus LEWIS       This was an action for the sum of £3 for a looking glass sold to       the Defendant by the Plaintiff in October last. Defendant, in Court expressed his readiness to make oath to his having paid for the glass   on the 27th October, as appared by his cash book. Plaintiff proved his having been offered payment about the latter end of the month, in bills which he did not choose to take, upon refusal of which   Defendant immediately left Plaintiff's house. The Court accord- ingly gave a verdict for the Plantiff. Upon leaving the Court it occurred to the Plaintiff to refer lo his Almanack, in which will be found the 27th of October falls on a   Sunday. We forbear to make any comments upon this circum-   stance further, than questioning the probability of such a transaction having taken place...

DIED, - on Saturday night last Mr. WILLIAM WILSON, Govern- ment Pilot at this Settlement, leaving a widow and two infant children. If an affectionate husband, a tender parent, an assiduous discharge of his public duty and an irreproachable life, have any claim to respect, Mr. Wilson will long be remembered in this   Settlement with regret. He was native of England, and resided     many years in these Colonies.
