GOSSIP OF THE RING. AT THE STADIUM. [Newspaper Article] — Saturday Referee and the Arrow — 19 October 1912

GOSSIP OF THE RING. By 'SOLAR PLEXUS.** AT THE STADIUM. I Last Thursday s programme at the Stadium was better than any of those that preceded it. Every bout was hotly contested, and llock Keys' humorous turn, 'Catching the Chook,' as 'usual, provoked much laughter. Leon Bernstein, who meets Hock Kcyt next Saturday night, ngalu showed up well, this tluie against his heavier countryman Jcau Oudouy. Reg Midwood, the Tasmcnian champion mid dle-weight, surprised everyone by his clever work. Ho has particularly improved with his left, which shoots out with lightning rapidity, reminding many old-timo boxing enthusiasts who were present of how tho onco great Mick Dooley used to apply that weapon. Billy Shaw, who won this year's Australasian welter-weight championship, was Midwood's sparring partner, and although the latter was not all out, the work done by Shaw was full of promise. Ealzac and Jean Oudouy boxed three fa»t and amusing rouuds. Balzac's stylo is most unor thodox. Continually on...
