SHIRE IMPROVEMENTS. TO THE EDITOR OF THE REPORTER. [Newspaper Article] — Reporter — 22 August 1889

HBII T :IPIOVEMENT$. TO THE EDITOR Or TUE ItEl'OuTEu,. Now that tho burning question of " Vlho is to occupy the seats around the council table? " is disposed of, it may not be out of place to suggest some points of practical interest that need attention. First, - we aro glad to observe that footway, are' being formod in Cantcbui'y.road; anid we " lild like tosuggeoit that the expodient which hae answtered well. in Mitcham-road be tried in other places, viz., that on ths..clay.. grdound, cinders be 'pread. BLACKBURN. A MODEL TOWNSHIP.(Continued.)The Buildings. [Newspaper Article] — Reporter — 22 August 1889

BLACKBURN.     A MODEL TOWNSHIP.   (By our special reporter)               (Continued)       The Buildings . The reserve has been sub-divided in such a manner that the buildings show to advantage, and some of the structures are really handsome edifices. In the centre of the town and in close proximity to the railway station, stands what is known as Gordon and Wolsley Crescents, which are ornamented with residences that would adorn even the aristocratic suburb of Toorak. F'oremost amongst these is the handsome mansion whioh has been built, and is occupied by Cr. Morton, the indefatigable secretary of the company. This residence is a model of neatness, and if one is to form an idea of what it is inside from its external appearance, it must be one of the most cosey and convenient dwellings outside of the city. It is sit...
