, Devon Cattle. . Amoko the improved breeds of'cattle in this country, the AJevons are held in high estimation, and probably-tho most gcnerally admircd. As a distinct breed of neat cattle t jhey possess several features peculiar to themselves, of wliich they are very tenacious —retaining thoni in a great degree, even though their distant crosses with other breeds, and particularly our native stock. The color of pure Devons is always red, varying to a dark mahogany. The dark color is generally most admired,-although the light shades are equally profitable. There is occasionally a little white on the belly, wliich is more common with the heifers and the steers, and the cows udders arefrorjiicntly white. The hairs which fonn the brush of the tail are very remarkable; on calves they, are a darkershade than the other parts of the bodv, but always turn white before the animals are three years old.
