Fuss about Buss . ALL IK THE BOWBBT . Why is it that such strenuous oppogit ( , n has been , and is still being made to the contemplated Ross pavement in the Bowery V It cannot be , as pretended , on account « f the price , for the charge made by Mr . Run is precisely the same , if we remember eorreetl y . that be mode fur the paving of Broadway , and yet in that instance no opposition was made , and the manner in which thewh was completed , gavo satisfaction to the citizens generally . But Broadway is not Bowery , and we very much fear that this determined opposition to the Bowery job is the result of jealousy at the fast increasing popularity of this beautiful and wide thoroughfare . Whether as a promenade , a drive , or a business mart , tho Bowery i » already encroaching so fast upon its nei ghbor tbat some-hing must be done to stop it . and who knows but that this is the first step . We see no good reason for all thin outcry against a contract which will inako the Bowery second...

America still Ahead . The last outward tri p of the British stealer Arabia has well ni gh set our nei ghbors , crazy . The Arabia made the passage in about two hours time shorter than the Arctic , in consequence of which salutes were fired , and other demonstrations of admiration exhibited , and yot it was nothing to boast of , for the American steamers still have the advantage , having made several trips outward and homeward , in less time than the Arabia , though the latter vessel was built for the express purpose of taking the starch out of Brother , Jonathan . Try again , Johnny ! « - » - * . The New Charter . Don t forget that on Tuesday next , on ? fellow-citizens are called upon to adopt or reject the New Charter .
