Thr Firm! nf thr Jungle. The tiger, the tyrant of the Indian jungle, has the precedence over his feebler : lei dreaded congeners. Skirt ing the hae of the Himalayan range, extending east and west for many hundreds of miles, is a tract of land covered with Jungle, called the Terul ; this Is his chosen home. Cradled in the long, feathery gras of the jungle, he gambols about in 1,1- Infancy playful M a kitten, and usually attains when lull grown the length of nine or nine and a half feet. Wild hogs, deer, and all the larger species of game, are his usual prey; hut sometimes a pair of tigers will take up their abode within a mile of a village, sallying out from their lair every three or lour days to pull down a bullock or a buffalo, always selecting the fattest In the herd.
