McArthur oí Monument were in town yesterday. The fifth and sixth grades of the public schools had a spelling match Wednesday, which result ed in twelve to ten in favor oí the fifth grade. Quite a number of people at tended the stock m et at Ros well Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, hence the light vole on sewer bonds. Geo. Gage came on Sunday from Monument and spent sev eral days here. While here he purchared a splendid saddle horse from D. R. Ilarkey at pri vate terms. Capt. C. W. Merchant seems to be holding his own but not improving much. The physic ians have decided to operate fi appendicitis if he does not im prove shortly. W. G.
