Changes Necessitated by a Change of Rulers. [Newspaper Article] — Riverina Times, Hay Standard and Journal of Water Conservation — 8 April 1901

Changes Necessitate! by a Change of itnlcrs. By the change of rulers, from Queen to King, there will spring up many little points in the every day life of each of us under King Edward VII. which will constantly serve to remind us of the loss of our Queen. Take for instance the old familiar postage-stamp, with its likeness of Queen Victoria. When the new issue is made there will be another die im pressed — the portrait of our King, Ed ward VJ1 — present markings will gradually fade out of existence, except in the albums of philatelists. A Q.C., or Queen's Counsel, will for the future be non-existent, and wearers of the silk will become K.C.'s. The V.R. monogram will be exchanged for E.R. on all government buildings, pos tal vans, mailbags, and so forth. The coinage also will necessarily un dergo a change, and the Mint's next issue will bear the imprint of Edward VII. Snopkeepers who have hitherto held tbe Royal Warrant, and been allowed to affix to their signs ' to her Majesty ' will...
