Mr. Bryan, secretary of State of the United States, states that the diiliuuilities of nictitation over the Mexican embroglio have been over come, and that the Conference will meet on British soil, near Niagara Falls. Nine hundred immigrant? including 350 boys, have been farewelled by Sir George Reid, High Commissioner, in London. The newcomers are for New South Wales and Victoria. It is understood that in his report General Sir Ian Hamilton recommends great changes in the administration of the Defence Act so that needless expendfture may be avoided. An arrest has been made at Sydney of Harold Gleeson in connection with the improper •vithdrawl from the Royal Bank, Melbourne, of .£275 by means of n forged cheque.
