CLONCURRY NOTES. (By Telegraph.) CLONCURRY. July 19. Messrs Eskdale and Cundy, Victorian mining experts, who went out to In spect properties In the Northern Terri tory, near Booroola, returned to Clon curry this week, and report mining prospects out there to lie good for cop per. They, however, did no business, for the people they represent. They inspected several properties about Cloncurry with a view to flotations, and leave for Melbourne to-day. Mr Smith, the manager of the Hamp den mine, returned this week from Townsvllle. He reports having loaded all his machinery for the Hampden and Duchess mines, and hopes to have the mines in full swing within a month. The Daisy mine at Duck Creek Is opening up well. Some fine specimens of ore have come in to be sent to the exhibition to be held at Brisbane. The WlHcocks' smelters arc nearly completed.

CHARTERS TOWERS. THE WEEK ON 'CHANGE. So far as the number of sales are concerned operations on 'Change this week were In advance of last, imt values in most instances had a down ward tendency. The largest turn over was in Carrlngton's No. 1 and 2 East, which have undergone considerable fluctuation. On the 12th Inst buyers offered 3s., and from that they steadily improved' till on Wedneday buyers were offering 3s 8d. A reaction then set In, and last- night the best offer was 2s 9d., a drop of lid In two days, and 3d less than a week 'ago. They closed with a downward tendency.' Wallls1 Day Dawns have -been In steady request, some 1500 changing hands up to 9d. The closing quotation last night- was Sd. from buyers, with holders, holding out for Id. more. The development recorded at the end of last week was reponslble for the move, iwhlch sems likely to continue. MINING. Mr E. C. Holroyde, representing Noyes Bros., engineers, Sydney, is visiting the Cairns mining districts. According to the commercial reports of the Buenos Aires 'Standard,' April 3 to 11, the fluctuation in Matto Grosso (Transpacific) shares were— April 3, 3.30dol.; April 6, 3.70; April 8, 3.93. The advance recorded In the last two quo tations was due to the following tele gram:— Matto Grosso, April nth.— For 208 hours' work the dredge No. 1 gave 2,000gr. of gold and 11 diamonds weigh ing 11 carats; and dredge No. 2 gave l.OOOgr. gold for 216 hours' work.' April 11, the quotatlqn was— 3.90. The Kulamadau has nut through e crushing (tonnage not given) for a re turn of £850. Included are 166oz. gold and 14 tons concentrates. The Ptone was got in cutting down the shaft, and the result is considered very satis factory. KOREAN AFFAIRS. LONDON, July IS. The Korean Ministry has resigned. Seoul is placarded with posters de manding the death of Japanese offi cials. One of the Korean delegates died at the Hague while the head of the mis sion was absent in St. Petersburg. The ' Times ' states that, though the Seoul Court was surrounded by Japanese, the Emperor of Korea main tained an agent outside the kingdom and surreptitiously despatched Uie mission to the Hague and St. Peters burg, hence the demand for the Em peror's resignation.
