Peek'n Peak Plans Fail The Behrend Ski Club has announced that due to a misunderstanding with Peek 'n Peak Ski Center the one dollar discount promised by Ski Club president Jerry Kuseck on lift tickets and rentals will not be put into effect. The Ski Club is very sorry to its members and wishes to inform them that if they should think that this is an unfair deal, they can obtain their entrance fee back from Scott Nasserabeni. However, the Ski Club will still be functional and will be sponsoring events for its members in the near future. Jerry Kuseck has also announced that due to personal problems he will have to step down as president. Therefore an election will be held on the first Tuesday night that Peek'n Peak is open at 7 p.m. in the Main Lodge. All Ski Club members are urged to attend this election. Also if anyone is interested in obtaining a ski pass or the ten lesson plan they will have to go to Peek'nPeaktodoso. . This winter should be a great one for ski buffs so go up...

'Freddi's Dead > The only activity sponsored by the Student Union Board this weekend before the Christmas recess is the film-"Superfly." Ron O'Neal stars in this film of ghetto dope-dealing in the big city. Another aspect of "Superfly" is the music of Curtis Mayfield. Mayfield wrote the score for "Superfly", which includes the title song and "Freddi's Dead." "Superfly" will be shown on Saturday at 9 p.m. and on Sunday at 7 and 9 p.m. in the RUB Lecture Hall. Prices remain at 50 cents with an activity card and $1.25 without a card.

In my brief experience with Behrend activities I have come into frequent encounters with the idea of student apathy. Perhaps apathy is not the most proper word; perhaps it is more an outright unwillingness for involvement as opposed to sheer disinterest. Perhaps it isn't limited to students; perhaps administrators and faculty are guilty as well; perhaps they are unknowingly instrumental in propagating that attitude of noninvolvement. I had long raised my voice vehemently against this accusation of apathy. I was of the opinion that students were not unwilling, they were simply unaware of the opportunities that lay before them for involvement. But, after trying at registration to sell the Behrend College 25th Anniversary yearbook and some extras of last year's literary magazines (Illusions) for those who had missed it, I became quickly disillusioned. _Xrnas or Christmas? When it comes to Christmas I am a stubborn traditionalist. I hate unnecessary fake trees, plastic santas, Xmas sales (at least most places have the decency to separate Xmas from Christmas), and most of all, spray can pine scent. On the other hand, I love snow, Christinas carols, happy children, giving money to the Salvation Army, and making gifts for my friends. Still, it's hard for me to really enjoy the holiday season when even my parents are giving in to an artificial tree this year. It is not that I don't understand why this is all happening, that part is easy. It's just much easier to have a fake tree. But I still think it's kind of sad to treat such a beautiful season in that way. like "how can I most easily and cheaply get through this time of the year". It could only happen in America. Still, the sentence is not final, there is some hope for the Christmas season. And that hope lies with us. (I know that the Peanuts have told you all this once or ...

Strive For A Foster Child The sophomore class is investigating the plausibility of supporting a foster child. The cost of $12 a month and $144 a year would be raised through various activities such as the "Greaser" dance held a week ago Tuesday which grossed about $50. According to Sophomore Class vice president Bob Stein, most activities at Behrend are for the students and not orientated towards making money. The goal of the sophomore class project is to sponsor an activity such that some one else will benefit in addition to the students at Behrend. "The main problem," Stein stated, "is keeping the tradition going. Once we start it, we have to make sure other classes will keep it going." Another problem that has to be investigated is how to promote the project over the summer. Some possible ideas for monthly activities are future dances, raffles, a skating night and a hayride. Student suggestions are not only welcome but needed. Students should contact either Jim Armstrong or B...

Behrend's Roundbatt Squad Faces Tough Disappointment byDaveLojewski Sports Writer The Cub Basketball Team dropped two games last week to Geneva and Waynesburg by the scores of 81-71 and 87-63 respectively. Although the scores may not depict the whole story the Cubs were "in" both ball games. In the Geneva contest, Behrend was playing a highly talented school that had eliminated five previous opponents this season. The Cubs however were going into the game with an 0-2 ledger, with losses to Westminster, 81-66 in their opener, and a 101-64 thumping from Edinboro State College. The Geneva game gave their local fans quite a thrill. Since Geneva was undefeated they were a highly picked Above is some of the action that took place last Thursday evening when Behrend met Geneva on home court.
