I POULTRY I RAISING INCUBATOR CHICKS . In reply to Mrs . J . H . U ., Greenfield , 0 ., asking for information about incubator chicks , my experience has been that too much heat is worse than not enough . Heat causes bowel trouble . We prefer the dry bread for feeding as the milk-soaked bread is apt to become sloppy . It is well to keep some dry bran and beef scraps before the chicks allofthe time . I favor feeding oat meal , cracked wheat and millet seed , and find that this keeps them scratching and hence gives the muchneeded exercise . See that the chicks have plenty of fine grit and fresh water . Also have a good brooder with top heat and keep it well ventilated , and you can not fail to have strong chicks . —R . A .
