Both of these bills concern the repeal of the sales tax presently being collected by the State of Texas and most cities on the use of natural gas and electricity for residential and commercial purposes. Currently the State of Texas imposes a tax on the cost of natural gas and electricity by residential and commercial customers. Cities have the option to collect a 1% tax on these utilities from persons residing in the city.
