DECEMBER 1085 SACHSE SENTINEL Page 23 Rainbow Trout Program The rainbow trout stocking program conducted each winter by the Texas Parks and Wildife Department is entering a "pay as you go" era, with future stock- ings dependent upon sales of $5 trout stamps. The stamps will be required in addi- tion to a valid fishing license for all trout fishermen, effective Jan. 1, 1986. They will be available from department offices and fishing license outlets. Officials said the 1985-86 stocking pro- gram, based on projected stamp sales, will include four public fishing areas and six state park lakes. Trout will be stock- ed at all locations starting in mid- November and continuing at two-week intervals until March. The public areas are the Guadalupe River below Canyon Dam, the Brazos River below Possum Kingdom Dam, Boy kin Springs in Angelina County and Foster Park in San Angelo. The state parks are Bonham, Buescher, Cleburne, Daingerfield, Meridian and Tyler. The bag limit is five trout per d...

You are required to have paid in at least 80% of the tax liability shown on your 1985 tax return or 100% of the tax shown on your 1984 return. The penalty for having paid in too little is currently 11% per annum. It is assessed on the difference between what you should have paid and what you actually paid, If your income tax estimate shows your prepayments to be short, there is a solution to the problem if you pay your taxes through withholding as well as estimated payments. DECEMBER 1985 SACHSE SENTINEL Page 27 Roadside Litterers Pet Peeve of Constable If you're the person who has been dumping bread wrappers along the road- sides in the Bluntzer community west of Corpus Christi, look out. Constable Bill Gibbens is after you. Gibbens, a big. purposeful lawman, is serious. "If I catch him," he said, "I'll probably file several cases on him." The chances are. Gibbons will get his man, or woman — whoever is strewing the bread wrappers. He's got a perfect record on all the 30 or so cases he's fil- ed on litterers. Nobody has beaten the rap yet. Nino Gutierrez, district engineer of the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation in Corpus Christi, is thankful for the constable's help in keep- ing down litter on the roadsides. "We are very pleased at Constable Gibbens' interest and concern about the litter problem. I cannot recall a local of- ficial taking such an active position. We hope his efforts will be an inspiration and example to others," G...

PAGE 4 SACHSE SENTINEL JANUARY 1986 spotlight on health FDA APPROVES NEW HEAT TREATMENT FOR CANCER A new therapy using heat to destroy cancer cells is offer- ing hope to many of the 910,000 persons diagnosed as having cancer this year. Heat therapy, or hyper- thermia, was recently ap- proved by the Food and Drug Administration and is now provided to patients at lead- ing treatment centers through- out the United States. This FDA approval places hyper- thermia among the major cancer treatment options a- vailable, joining radiation, chemotherapy and surgery. How does heat therapy work? Most commonly, physi- cians use hyperthermia in conjunction with radiation therapy. Hyperthermia uses sophisticated microwave tech- nology to destroy the heat- sensitive center of the tumor, which enhances the ability of radiation to kill the remain- ing cancer cells. Clinical test- ing of hyperthermia in con- junction with chemotherapy is also underway and is yield- ing encouraging results. One of the ...
