Amusements for Parties. A fow particulars about an amusing par lour game called "Telegrams" may be uso ful to those who give parties. The hostess selocts ft word of nine or ten /loiters and not too many vowels, aud each guest writes it down. Baoh one bus to compose a telegraphic message containing as many words as lb are are letters in the chosen word, and each word in the message must begin with a letter in the eho6en word, usiug them in .order. Ton minutes are allowed fur composition, *and when the mossages aro read aloud prizos may be givun for the bost ones, as ■one for the fminiedt message, and oho for tho most seus-ible one, etc. At one party the word "Begardless" was chotseu, a id the prize went, to the sender of tliis gruesome message: "Ruth, Edward, grandmother, and llose drowned last even ing; send stretcher." Auather time the prize message was oom posed from lh& word "Gentleman," aud read thus:— "Grandma eloped northern train- last .oveiiing ; married a native."
