From the last received Sydney Gazettes we copy following : We are sorry to report the loss of the small colonial sloop William Broughton, Thomas Crump owner, in a boisterous gale on the 8th instant (July) a few miles south of Botany Bay Heads. She was laden with wheat and corn; and what renders the account more distressing, is to report the loss of three lives, namely, Geo.     Colston master; James Carney, one of the       crew; and Edward Yarley, a settler at     Hawksbury, who leaves a wife and two     children to lament his premature end. A Gentleman has been kind enough to introduce to us the passage of a letter from a friend at Edinburgh, the Northern seat of learning and   the Arts, in which the weekly publications     of these juvenile Colonies are noticed in the following way:- "In the list of newspapers advertized at Taylor and Smit...

The ceremonial of proclaiming His Most Gracious Majesty, King George the Fourth,   at the Settlement of Port Dalrymple, took   place on the 25th and 37th ultimo—at George Town on the latter, and at Launceston on the former day, with the same marks of loyalty and dutiful respect as were manifested in this Settlement. Yesterday afternoon two whales made their appearance in the River, between Kangaroo Point and the town. The Rambler, whaler, being the nearest vessel towards them, two of her boats were immediately sent in pursuit of the fish ; and, after pursuing them a short time, they had the good fortune of taking both, which was witnessed by a number of persons   on the beach, who seemed much pleased at the sight. They had been driven up the ri- ver by the strong sea-breezes, which are very likely to drive up more before the season is completely over. The Passengers by the St. Michael are,   Lieut. Jacobs, of the 3d Regt. B. N. I. ...
