The following debts were proved against this estate :-Abraham James, £83 5s.; Daniel Connor, £9 4s. 7d. ; Joseph lMonger, .£3 Uls. 7d. ; Jas. Snophill, £7 4s. 6d.' An account of Mr. W. Bull of Toodyay, ordered to stand over for further proof. Re Nath. Howell, insolvent-3rd mceting. To the Editor of the Herald. SIR, Very much has been said of late about the misappropriation of Convict Labor and Public Money. If the other districts in the colony have equal cause for complaint as this, I am not surprised at the outcry. Since the introduc tion of prisoners we have not had any Convict DepSt or Pensioner Settlement as most. other districts have had the Road Parties. When we did get them being under the sole control of .the Resident Magistrate, but very little usefnl work has been done andothat principally in Busselton which populous place it would be a difficult mat ter to find in a dark night. The roads most used and required are in a most wretched state, the representation of the oldest and most intel ligent of the settlers paid but little attention to, the Road Parties being employed at most use less work for the benefit of individual favorites.
