Protectionist Meeting. According to advertisement a meeting was held at the Mechanics' Institute ou Friday evening for the purpose of forming a branch of the National Protection League. Mr. Henry Clarke, M.P., presided. Mr. J. J. Coffev was chosen Secretary oro tern. When we remember that only on the previous Tuesday it was decided to hold the meeting, it speaks well for the cause of Protection in this district, that about 80 supporters should put in an appearance. Mauy of the country residents who hod not an opportunity of seeing the lociil papers were unaware that a meeting was to be held. Under heading, ' 'Minis terial Visit,' he writes the following : — ' Although we are not at one with Messrs.
