MEETING AT ARTHURTON. A meeting was held at Scott's Arthur ton hotel, on Thursday afternoon, by re quisition of several residents of the eastern aad north-eastern portion of the Hundred of Tiparra. The Chairman (W. E Hawkes), who convened the meeting, read the advertised notice, and exiled upon the meeting to elect a chairman. On the motion of Mr Freeman, Mr Hawkes was voted to the chair, Mr Hawices explained that he had ealied the meeting as desired to allow the residents an opportunity of giving ex pression to their feelings on the question of extending the Beetaloo water main through their district, when such was not wanted. He bad interviewed the Com missioner some time ago, and was assured that the mains would not be extended to that district without their being asked for, but he believed the Surveyors bad been in the district for the past 3 weeks surveying ana testing the ground for Masrvpfft.
