ELECTORAL DISTRICTS. [Newspaper Article] — Gippsland Guardian — 8 January 1858

ELECTORAL DISTRICTS. In the new distribution of the Electoral. Districts, a mistake pointed, out and complained of long a go j lias been perpetuated in placing Omeo in the Beech wortli district. By this arrange-; ment the electors on the Living stone, Kabungra, and other dig gings are 'virtually disfranchised by the difficulties interposed by the formation of th6 country be tween the two places. In the winter when the mountains are covered with snow it becomes riot only difficult but highly dan gerous or impossible to cross them .^ndpit,: Appears now extremely, probable that the general election will .take: ,place; in that season of the ypar. ' ! There are other in cenveniences. attending this ex clusion of .Omeo from the dis trict of Gipps Land to which it naturally belongs, which were pointed out by the miners them selves, the force of which is in fact acknowledged by the Go vernment, in connect ing the pos tal service and the police for Omeo with those of Gipps Land.
