B.R.U.N.O.S. is back for weekend by Kellie Chase staff writer With Fall Festival / Parents and Families Weekend upon us, there arcnumerous activities taking place on campus. One activity that should not be missed is the Behrend Studio Theatre's encore production of B.R.U.N.O.S., which is Behrend's first original musical. The play was first performed last April, but due to limited seating, all were not able to be accommodated. If you missed your chance last spring, this is your opportunity to find out what you were missing. Through B.R.U.N.O.S, the Matchbox Players take a comical look at college life at Behrend during Freshmen Orientation. The setting of the play takes place in the basement of the Otto Behrend Science Building and is fueled by the imaginations of the students with sightings of the ghost of Otto Behrend. In the spirit of the weekend, the majority of the original cast will be returning to star in the roles they played last spring. Since that performance, a lot ...

U.S. team goes for the "green" [Newspaper Article] — Behrend Beacon (1998-2010) — 24 September 1999

U.S. team goes for the "green" Don't Get Me Started This weekend is one of the most exciting weekends for golf fans. Starting today and continuing throughout the weekend, The Country Club at Brookline will host the Ryder Cup. Every two years, players representing the United States and Europe battle each other for the right to retain the coveted Ryder Cup. Players compete in several formats including alternate shot, four ball and singles matches. But like all major sporting events, the Ryder Cup can't pass without its own round of controversy. As purses grow on the PGA Tour and players make more money each year, the Ryder Cup also produces increased revenue for the PGA ol America. Not like they are making enough money already, some players feel that they should be paid for playing in the Ryder Cup. This issue wasn't even thought of until American washed up hack Mark O'Meara, made it an issue at the last Ryder Cup in 1997. He felt that the PGA of America was making all of th...

Hollywood could have written a better script for Tim Couch [Newspaper Article] — Behrend Beacon (1998-2010) — 24 September 1999

Hollywood could have written a better script for Tim Couch by Michael YVeinreb Knighl-Ridder Newspapers NASHVILLE, Tenn. - This was the pass he'd been waiting to throw, the $48 million special, languishing and sloping and dripping over the outstretched arms of a defensive back and into the hands of his receiver. This was the pass he'd honed over hours, over months, over years, lofting touch throws into a garbage can on his front lawn and hurling bombs that rattled the goal posts of his highschool field in Hyden. Ky. In the beginning, there was Tim Couch to Kevin Johnson. Thirty-nine yards ol sptraling beauty. It was the first transcendent moment in the revised history of the Cleveland Browns, this touchdown, the only one in Sunday's 26-9 loss to Tennessee at Adelphia Coliseum, the only moment to cling to so far in an otherwise bland season. And yet it already has the feel of a burgeoning legend. Because what happened before the pass, in the midst of Couch's first-ever start ...
