Some dozen other hoaxes which have been put upon the pre-ea within the past few years, and with which he probablj haa no more connection than the man in the moon, have been attributed to him. Among these is the falw announcement of the defeat of Bumeide, to which the World pave currency a few weeks ago, but which in reality waa obtained from a rebel source.
