'he Citizen. FRIDAY. JULY 18. 157H. Will Make a Good Report Professors Price and Soule and 3Ir. Thomas Yerkes' returned to-day from an examination of H. D. Bacon's mines southward, and also took a view of the Hershaw district, and continued right on to San Francisco by this af ternoon's stage. Their visit will re sult in immediate development of the San Antonio and' other mines of 3Ir. Bacon, and their reports upon the country down that way will be favor able without any foolish exaggera tions. Tliey recognize that the grade of ore is not very high but its abund ance in a section so admirably favored with wood, water, grass and agricultu ral land, is certain to insure a large and prosperous population thereaway Prof. Price docs not hesitate to say that ores can be smelted there at 50 per cent less cost than at Eureka, Nevada, and also that any miner or man famil iar with Darwin. Tybo, Piochc and similar mining camp?, on sight of this would readily admit its superiority He feels sure...

The Citizek. FHIBAT. AUGUST 1. 1S7U. The Guaymas Railway. Not long since a New Mexican ex change took umbrage at some railway news given otlt from The Citizen, which came from a perfectly reliable and competent sotirct at Guaymas. Here is a portion of a letter from Hon. A. C. Heslng who recently passed through Tucson to Sonora in the full belief that the road was certain to soon be constructed. The letter bears no date but -was -written at Guaymas and appeared" in the Chicago Tribune July 22: A great deal has been" said lately in America about the projected road across Sonora. As Guaymas is intend ed to be the terminus of the road on the Gulf. I was able to gather here some information about the project. It appears to be a fact that permission lias been granted to the Atchison, Topcka & Santa Fe Company to build a road through Sonora, together with grants of land. But it seems that the "first grant of 15,000 acres per mile will have to be changed, because so many old Spanish gra...
