ARMLESS GIRL DOES THINGS WITH HER FEET. A REMARKABLE demonstra tion of the control the mnid has over the body is provided by Miss Kittie M. Smith, an. armless Chicago girl who uses her feet to do the things the average person accomplishes with the hands. So adept has Miss Smith become that she makes cabinets, book esses, desks, and like furniture, using with skill all the necessary tools, such as saw s, chisels, planes, etc. In nailing, how ever, she uses a hatchet in stead, of hammer, as the shape of the former is adapted for a tight clutch between the toes. Miss Smith also sketches with pen and pencil, does exllent needlework, and uses a typewriter for her correspondence. The daily task of making a toilet, including brushing her teeth and washing her face, is done with compara tive ease. She is also an adept gardener, using all ordinary im plements with her toes in the garden of the home for disa bled children which she has founded at May wood, a Chicago suburb. , Every mail order mercantile house catalogue in town is a big ger leak in the income of the merchants here, forty times and more, than all the advertising done by our home merchants. If the merchant here has a good garden rake to sell, why not say so in the columns of the local paper? And advertise the other things you have to sell. Taking for granted that the people all know you have these things to sell, doesn't "hit the spot" in t h e argument o n advertising advantages. TRAP THE FLY NOW. Better To Trap Now Than Swat Later. In last week issue of the Herald-News we stated that a few dead horses were on the west side of town and that the oder was not very sweet from them, and ao asked who was the one to look after these things- It seems that some of our readers thought they knew arho we were hitting at, and were throwing it into some of the members of the Board of Health, but lets state ri-ri't here that we had no thought whatever of the Board of Health in mind when we wrote that ...

Yes, a place to rest: wiiue we are nut entirely ni sympathy with the "slap dash, bang-whiz'' style of doing business of the pre sent day we are not any more in sympathy with the idea of some who are con tented with a place to rest'.
