The Terara Public Wharf. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 30 September 1893

The Terara Public Wharf. This structure, which is now solely in use by the I.S.N. Co., is in n dangerous state of repair. .Several large holea have worked in the decking, and other nf the timbers have become .weakened. Should an accident occur to any person having business with the company's steamers wo presume the Government will be respons ible. This wharf, it wculd appear, is not puifaViln for either loadiiur or unloadinc nf the company's steamers; which were 'com- pelled to take whatever ftdmntsgn it afforded solely owiw? to the collapse of the company's own wharf ft few hundred yards further down during a flood in June of last year. The public wharf, no matter at what tide the steamer is alongside, is too high to admit of the proper handling of cargoos ; and on this account alone, dis regarding the dangerous state of the wh&Tf through long neglect, th» company should in the interests of its constituents at once take steps to replace their wharf in the old locality oppos...

Satisfaction was expressed with the management generally ; that the machinery was kept in good order and working smoothly and that with hardly an exception the highest market price had been got for the butter sent to Sydney. Messrs. C. Moffitt and J. Blow were re elected directors, unopposed, and were thanked for the services rendered by them during the year; as were also the treasurer (Mr. W. Brown), the auditor (Mr. S. Bungledom. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 7 October 1893

Bang'lo&oja. There was a small debts case in the jShoaliiaven Police Court on Tuesday last fa which accounts between the parties «rere in a bungle, and the defendant filed /as a set off (!) the simple defence of ' not indebted.' There would not be anything strange about this were it not for the fact that the Nowra Gouncil, with evidently a strong prescience, allowed certain proceed ings to be initiated and Minn sfinnri n.wav from its solicitor with a persistency worthy /)f a bettor cause. Doubtless the Council Jieard that there was likely to be some bungling over cases at the Court that day And determined that if it could not show first place in the undertaking it would at any rate go a good second. Wo have no desire here to even hint at the language used by the solicitor and noticed with indiguatipn by his ' learned friend ' when it was found that there was no proof before the Court of the case for the plaintiff Council. But many of the ratepayers, prompt payers as well as ...
