(country' hotel. Tbe night was very oold, and tbe hotel proprietor was not extrava gant in his fuel supply or in the weight of bis blankets. Tbe Judge put over his bod-coverings his boavy coat nnd other clothes, but still found it impossible to sleep. It wis after midnight, and there was no one near ts make a fire. The Judge rose, and, putting on bis slippers and dressing-gown, went into the passage aud shouted with all his power — ' Fire ! Fire I Fire !' lo a few seconds tbe whole hotel was roused, and the pr.prietor, panting aud scared, ran to the Judge and screamed — ' Where is the Are ? Buyers state in face of the importations from Victoria, South Australia, and outside of both grain and flour, they cannot give more, and compete with the imports. At Homebnsli yesterday the price of sheep was lower. Prime merino wethers sold to 8s Qd, good 6s 6d to 7s, medium from 5s. Cattle were also lower.
