FOOTBALL [Newspaper Article] — The Leader — 18 March 1948

FOOTBALL Liverpool held its second trials on Sunday. Rain, marred the early game but the last tniee games were well-contested. D Grade played MV. Pritchard, d2feating them 9-0. « The A Reserve team is on a weight limit of 10 stone with a seven pounds allowance. They defeated Mt. Pritchard 8-0, outstanding players being Jones at half-back, B. Diamond five-eighth. Ci Cowan «centre), Derbyshire (, centre forward), Newell ^centre) and C. Hob- bins (full-back). * The B Grade is new to t he club and is open to all players under 21. with no weight limit. The club is trying to cater for all players by running five teams B Grade were defeated 9-3 by All Saints' but were not disgraced as we had to fill in with five C Graders. A Grade, with new players in Rogers (full-back), Carlson, Martin and Cowan (forwards) and Fitzgerald (cèntre) looks like being a force to reckon with this season. The team is in need of a goal kicker. He would be worth his weight in blazers. All last year's players are j...
