Heidelberg Bowling Club. [Newspaper Article] — Heidelberg News and Greensborough, Eltham and Diamond Creek Chronicle — 3 November 1917

Heidelberg Bowling Club. (By "Draw the Shot.") The Heidelberg Bowling club have every reason to be satisfied with their victory over the Fairfield "B" team last Saturday. At the outset we felt, that although we were up against practically a last season's "A" team, we were fairly evenly matched. I. never knew the Heidelberg bowlers so seriously inter ested in their play as they were on this occasion. The green was so keen that it was only necessary to let the bowl fall from the hand. Our players recognising this;; strained their utmost to control their bowls, and I say it without fear of contradiction; it was this close attexntion to the gaime that won the match for us. If our players played "for keeps" on every occasion, we should reco...

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. TENNIS ALOOFNESS. [Newspaper Article] — Heidelberg News and Greensborough, Eltham and Diamond Creek Chronicle — 10 November 1917

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. TENNIS ALOOFNESS. Sir,-Will you kindly allow me a lit tle space for the purpose of making a few remarks about a much-talked-of subject. For some considerable time now I have heard remarks about the members of the Ivanhoe tennis courts in connection with the bowling green, to the effect that the older members (and by this I mean old in date of member ship) hold themselves aloof, and no not try and make the new members feel at ease. Per haps the dear girls will forgive me if I remind them that they are, to a certain extent, acting as hostesses to the new members, and while one can understand a good player not caring to play with a poor one, still a little pleas...
