NARANDERA'S RECORD. [Newspaper Article] — Narandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser — 20 January 1899

NARANDBRA'S RECORD. There can be no question upon which citizens should feel more deeply than upon the stato of the moral atmos nphere which surrounds their homes. It is worthy of grave consideration, and is in itself a personal matter ; for not only is a town's reputation a general reflection upon the towns people generally, and indirectly an individual charge against every citi zen formirg a component pait of the population ; but is also taken as a giiage of the moral obliquity of thought permeating the .whole social system in the locality. Thus we hold that the lamentable record of Narandera upon the police annals of the colony from year to year, heaps upon us, as citizens, a certain amount of opprobrium and shame, that in time will be not only offensive but positively injurious And such being the case, the share of responsibility in raising and sustain ing the moral status of our district must be accepted and recognised by us as citizens ; not only as a matter of right-mindednes...

WHAT SHALL WE EAT? The recent scares (says the Melbourne 'Argus' with regard to anthrax and other defects in our meat supply odd another grerience to the many gricviences already possessed by our cooks.
