PiBENTIOEAWA Cm. Enquirer. Howell Cobb walked into the Gubernatorial chair of Georgia mounted upon the Union hobby, which he affected most strenuously until it had served his turn. If he can now supplant ' Iverson by gall loping his fat sides up and down on' the Secession nag, npthing is more certain than that Howell Gobb will go for- the preservation of the Union at least until the 4th March, 1867, when his term will expire. If Georgia is going out of the Union, we can not see why Mr. Gobb should be so anxious to get to the United States Senate for six years. Where is Henry A. Wise? Lincoln's election, so help me God, " his agonized friends fear he may have seceded indi. v_^dually. About CobnkdBebp.—Somebody gays, and we endorse the remark, that corned beef, properly salted, and eooked as it should be, is a dish fit_^for the sovereign people; but to eat salt _jnpk. such as too often exercises the _nraslw of the jaws, is a penance even for a malefactor.— Most of the beef pat up loir winter use is spoiled by the _nso of tbo much salt, which destroys the _flavor_/and makes the meat stringy and tough. When beef is fresh, it contains considerable blood, which is drawn out by tne "- brine. If the meat is left in this mixture_; it will require a much larger quantity of salt to preserve i t, particularly through warm weather. The proper plan is to make a brine by using for one hundred pounds _«f bJef, five pounds of _*alt, |ibne-qua»teT ounce of saltpetre, and a pound of brown sugar. This is dissolved in _juSt _enw_^h water to cover the meat, and poared upon it.' When ithas befen in this bjrae two weeks, take out the meat, let it _fljjfti. pour a fresh brine ove...
