James Roclio, inspector of nuis ances for Borrigan Shire, proceeded uguiust the following owners for al lowing their cows to wander in tlio streets of Tocurawal on Nov. 5 th :— Thomas Powell, E. C. Eddy, Hugh ilaher and G. Mansell. Each defendont pleaded guilty. The inspector did not press for a heavy fine, hoping that the cases wdnld prove a warning to other owners. Scve.al thousand people gathered on the show grounds on Saturday afternoon to \vitne.-s llie special high .jumping contests which were arranged in aid of the Repatriation Fund. Tbe conipetito's were A. Judd's Sundown, the world's champion, ricldeu by Rowley Doc tor; W. J. Weir's Peter .(R. Chit tick), A. N. Payne's "Vice Regal, A. Judd's Bandolier (.Doctor), W. J. Weir's Musician [(Ohiltick), and A." Judd's Thumbs Up (Do.tor). At 6 feet Thumbs Up dropped out; Bandolier failed at 6 feet 7 inches; Peter, Vice-Rfgal, Sundown and Musician cleared 6 feet 10 inches, but Nice-Regal dropped out at 7 feet 2 inches. Seven feet 6 inches, 3§ inches below the world's record established by Sundowu at Albury in September.- Sundowu ngnin cleared, hut Peter and Musicnn failed. Police Court.. November 27. (Hefore Mr Longfiell, P.M.) A CASE DISMISSED. The P.M. delivered judgment iu a case previously heard by him in which he reserved his decision. George R. Boltou, a visitor to the town, was charged with hawking Montis without a licence. The facts of the case (admitted) were that Bolton had been showing samples of silks to householders, for which he took orders, and afterwards de livered the goods upon arrival from Melbourne., Counsel for defence (Mr Beard) contended that the provisions of the Act were not contravened. The P.M. stated that whilst an English Act defined|the foregoing as hawking, the local Act did not do so. lie dismissed the charge.
