A Huge Prospecting Concern, THE HANNAN'S PEOPRIETARY DE VELOPMENT COMPANY, Limited. (by ouk mining eepoeter.) No. II. South of the Gilberton lease, and on the opposite side of the Boulder road, is the Great Comstock, a 16-acre block, and near it the Norwood, a 22-acre block, through which the Hainault lode is sup posed to run. Further south again are tlie Queen of the West and the Ironside jNorth, two 24-acre' blocks, and the Ironside, a 12-acre block. On none of these has much work been done, but in the shaft on the Ironside the Hainault lode has been met with. The Golden Pike is a 12-acre lease to the north-west of the Boulder, and is likely, on account of its very favorable situation to occupy early attention. Block 1551, known as the Ivanhoe Central, and a 24-acre block on tlie right of tlie Boulder road, about three-quarters of a mile from the to-wj7,\ ' are amongst the many which the com pany are now engaged in opening up. DESTRUCTIVE CYCLONE. A cyclonic storm broke over the Hunter River district this afternoon. The following vessels in Newcastle Harbor broke their moorings, viz., Alexander William Monson, Hann'a ITege, Principlaity, Fido, ar-d Wen douree, but they mauaged by letting their anchors go to ride out the storm. At West Maitland the lightning struck and killed William Hickey, a road laborer. The Primitive Methodist Church at Carrington was blown down and two organs were smashed.

T*p- 1 -=* or r o m* 1h 4 r» NEW SOUTH WALES. THE DEAN -CONSPIRACY CASE VERDICT OF THE JURY. MR CRICK CLAIMS DAMAGES FROM MR AY ANT. Sydney, December 21. Mr Justice Cohen has finished sum ming up in the Dean conspiracy case, and the. .jury, after two and a half hours deliberation, returned a verdict in which they found Meagher and Dean ffuilty of continued conspiracy, from April 9th to October 8th. The jury explained that they found them guilty on one count only, and strongly rd ?' commended Meagher- to mercy, on account of his previous good conduct. Green and Reynolds were acquitted. 'Meagher has raised a number of points which will have to be argued before the 'Full Court in February. He has been admitted to bail. Dean's sentence has been deferred, pending tha result of Meaghcr's appeal.
