ASSAULT, A man of the name of Clarke, who had one of his arms in a sling, appeared before the chief magistrate to prefer ar complaint against a carter of the name of Robert Langley, residing in Lit tle Salop-street, for striking him with his fist, knockinl? him down, and breaking the hones of his arm. It appeared that some few days ago, the defendant struck the complainant a severe blow over his left arMn with a billet of wood, I which aroke the hone in severad places. Clark obtained medical assistance, and the broken bone was set, and the arm dolng well. When in this condition, and his arnm in splints, tle defen dant, who is a very powerful man, in a moment of irritation struck him again, and rendere,! it necessary for him to undergo the painful opera tion of having it again set. The Court opened at nine o'elock, but as no witnesses were in attendance, thejury had nothirg to do but stare abount them for nearly an hcnr anda half. THE QOEEr V. G. BATTE. The recogrizinres of this defendant, who stands charged with assaulting a female at Brighton. were, on the motion of the Attorney General, ordered to be estreated, the said G. BItten not appearing to take his trial when falled on. BOESESTEALI.G, Daniel 3t'Donald was indicted for stealing on the 3rd of April, one bay mare, the property of EJward Doherty. The prisoner pleaded eNot Guilty. It appeared from the eridence of the prose eutor, who is the .andlord of the Bridge Inn, in Flinders-street, that the prisoner came to his houme on the evening in qnestion, and Lasked if Hlarrington was there; at this time the mare was in the stable in the bak yardnl, trie rnte of which was shot and in ten minutes arter the prisoner...
