AUSTRAL SHOW [Newspaper Article] — The Leader — 11 March 1948

AUSTRAL SHOW I DESPITE the idyllic weather, iollow .n>¿ on a bountiful season, Austral's tenth Annual Show, held last Saturday, was J) ct the success the hard-working com- mittee deserved. Two contributing causes were the brewery strike which prevented ihe opeiation of the publican's booth and ulie fact that by some organisatioru. aw the controlling authority had also nxtd Saturday for the date of Penrith and Castle Hill Shows. Many exhibitors who might otherwise have shown, ai Austral had entered in the bigger Shows. Absence of a publican's booth kept not less than a couple of hundred "townies" away. Entries, generally speaking, were fair, Uieugh it appeared to our reporter that .such a renowned vegetable-producing .u.i.iict should have put cn a better dis- ley in that section. The needlework .section was not only very Jarge but also \tTy good. 1 litre was no official lunch, owing io the inability oí cither the Premier ( Mr. AitGirr) or Mr. Bate, district member. ;o arrive in th...
