SHOWGROUND6 FOR FOOTBALL. Recently the Mount Barker Agricul tural Society submitted a price of £1G to the Mount Barker Football Club for the use of the show grounds for the coming season. The Foot ball Club has accepted the offer, and patrons of the popular winter sport will be able to view the matches in comfort, there being ample seating accommodation and shelter in- two flue j grand stands. The club, will also ; be provided with a decent dressing shed for botli their own and visiting teams. The grounds, which are to j be somewhat altered to ftiit the needs of the players (and also the 'society) will be used on the occasion of the first association match ( to be played on May 28), on which day the Mounts! will meet Strathalbyn. The Asso-j elation games will commence on Satur day, May 7. - ■

Barker submitted an illus tration of the clock tower at Henley Beach when speaking- to his motion regarding the installation of a clock and tower in Mount Barker. It was pointed out that the estimated cost of a suitable clock would be about £400 (electrically driven from dry cells) and the tower £200 additional. | After discussion, it was decided that the time was Inopportune to launch an appeal, but the subject will be re-lutroduced a little later In the year.

CONCERT AT NAIRNE. On Saturday evening a concert was held In the Kairne Soldiers' Memorial Hall, and there Was a splendid atten dance. ' Tae proceeds of the concert were in aid <•£ the; Tubercular Soldiers' Aid Society, and during the evening, Miss £. Cleggett, the organiser lor the Society (who was introduced by the Rev. a. Arnold, president of the Mount Barker Sub-Branch of the R.S. and S.I.L.) appealed for assis tance on behalf of the afflicted sol diers. The result of the effort was that £17 12/- was cleared. The pro gram was given by Adelaide artists, and those who contributed numbers were Miss Irene Matthews, B.A.B., Miss Hilda Hammond, Miss Meta Mc Caffney, and Messrs. Walter Wood, Sable Grivell, and Don Fraser.
