Blon dbll and MORBBBAD, availed them selves. The last named individual vranted to propose an amendment on the clause relating to newspapers, that tbey should be subject to a postal rate of one penny for each copy. Mr. MORB HEAD is a veiy fiery, hot-tempered young man, who has been ridiculed'fe some of the local papers, and wants to resent .the indignity. He uses the privileges of the House to protect himself against the law of slander, and indulges in all sorts of mean and petty revenge against those who are compelled to criticise his public utterances. LOOAIi AND OENEBAL HEWS. PDBUO HALL COMPANY,-At a meeting of the Directors of the Blackall Public Hall Company, Mr. W. D, Chase was chosen Chairman lor the ensuing twelve months. An agreement was made with the Municipal Oouncil to rent a portion of the Hall for Council Chambers at £86 a year. THE GO BPO RATION DAM.-The Govern ment dam at Blackall hag now been trans ferred to the Municipal Council, and notice has been given that any persons driving hones or cattle into the water will be pro secuted. Persons who are*in the habit of watering their cattle there are reminded (hat the; are liable to a fine of £6 for this infraction of the Municipal by-laws; and that in the interest of the public the Council are determined to prosecute offenders. LONDON, September 15. At the wool sales to-day 8800 bales were offered. Market firm. LONDON, September 11. The wool market continues to improve. Prices in all descriptions are slightly higher. Superior combing wools in good demand; prioes about equal to closing rates last series. Clothing sorts much neglected, bat crossbreds, especi ally the finer descriptions, bate risen in value. Total quantity catalogued since th« commencement of the present series) 180,700 bales, of which 17,700 have been withdrawn. The sales dose on September 25th.

SPORTING NEWS. Adavale Races. TOEBB races were licld on Wednesday and Thursday 1st and 2nd September. There was a large attendance of the residents around the new township of Adavale, situated on Blackwatcr Creek. A capital course, nearly one mile and a half in length, has been bud out. The fields of horses that ran for tha stakes although small were grass-fed, and the contests in some eases severe. The stewards and officials worked with energy and gave every satisfaction, and ore to be complimented that through their influence no hitch occurred in the proceedings. £139 being paid away on settling day. It is pro posed to form a club and hold the races next year so that they will not clash with other race meetings in the district, and they will be for all horses whether trained or not. The Opposition received the announcement with great composure, but then, of course, the fact had been knows to them beforehand.
