THE DEVIL WITH TWO TAILS From th_« Fr_«d«_rickUown _Exttniner We have all heard of Diable Boiieux, but it was reserved to this age, and to the city of Frederick, to discover the Devil with two tails. On Thursday night last, a caravan of wild beasts arrived inj£_Eis_place, and put up at one oTthe hotels. Among them, there chanced to be a huge Elephant, which, being too large to enter any ordinary stable, it was found necessary to accommodate in a large and close carriage house. Long before Joshua was of age, he had determined to pursue the honorable employment of peddling. In the fall of the year in which Joshua was 19, he obtained his father's consent to try his skill in the employment he had chosen, and was soon equipped in the first rate style—not with a crazj? cart and half starvod horse as was the custom fifty years ago; but with a substantial, well made and well-fed liorse, and covered wagon with all the colors of the rainbow—ornamented with _curtainfe, arid trimmed with many a. yard of red cotton fringe. His-load requires a minute description, as it is otten thought very wonderful that a pedlar can ...

ON FEEDING HOGS Our good farmers find the month of Sap*- tember to be a very important one in regard* to feeding their hogs. Those who wish to * be econimical in feeding, should begin early* Every farmer who is fattening hogs, should have a cauldronjetin_an arch near hi« pew in which he can boil pumpkins, potatoes_, meal, &c. as it will be found much cheaper' in this section of tho country to feed _wifh' boiled food than to give it to them raw.—• From the low price which potatoes and pumpkins are sold at in our market"t_* oWn«> and their great wei ght and small Value' they will not bear long transport; therefore it itf better to feed them to the lioga and save the corn which would -be required, where they" fattened on it, as that is not so perishable an_> article_.
