LOOK WHO'S HERE [Newspaper Article] — Player — 19 January 1912

LOOK WHOS HERE LONDON , Jan . 16 . —London society and the members of the nobility are all up in arms against the announced appearance of Sir Herbert Tree at a music hall on Jan . 22 . He will be the first titled actor to appear in a variety performance , and it is said that his colleagues , Sir George Alexander and Sir John Hare , regard the new departure as beneath the dignity of a member of the nobility . In addition to this , Sir Robert is chairman of the Theatrical Managers Association , which has heretofore bitterly opposed the competition of the music halls with the legitimate theater . Sir Herbert Tree will produce a sketch entitled The Man Who Was , a dramatization of Rudyard Kipling s story , and it is safe to say that the agitation , over his ...

KEEFE BOOKS MISS ARNOLD . —Florence Arnold , fresh from a victorious tour of the Hodkins Circuit , has received eight weeks of Walter F . Keefe s valuable bookings . COMING , THE ONLY SON . —Winchell Smith s play , The Only Son , which was far from being popular in Gotham , is announced as the probable successor to The Woman when the latter play has outworn its usefulness at the Olympic theater . • IF TITLES IMPLY ANYTHING . —Lottie & Archie have doubled for a new act to be entitled The Maid of Mystery and the Tumbling Fool . There is nothing ambiguous about the selection , of this designation , and if the act lives up to the seductiveness of its title it should prove a wonderfully successful one . NEWS OF THE ORDER [Newspaper Article] — Player — 19 January 1912

NEWS OF THE ORDER Meeting Held , Tuesday Evening , January 16 Brother Waters remarked that the tearing down of the old buildings on the new clubhouse site had been retarded the past week by the inclement weather , but as all the contractors bids are not entered as yet , there has been no real delay in construction . The stamps and coupon vote books are selling rapidly , though the votes are not being sent in as rapidly as might be expected , considering their fast sale ; someone is probably holding out for a black-horse . In another part of THE PLAYER photos of the three leaders , and information for those interested in the race will be found . There was considerable complaint by many of the brothers of conditions in Philadelphia . Brother Coleman told how much better conditions are there now , however , than , they were even so short a while as a year ago . Brother Kelly remarked that the reason of some of the troubles there was that people work in stores and play dates incidentall...
