It isiutimateti that the Board of Supervisors will refuse to allow the county jail to bo used for the incar ceration of city prisoners hereafter. Sueh being: the ease, our city offi cers should get to work and apply a remedy immediately by securing a permauout jail, and one" also that will afford better accommodations than the dungeon recently used. The city should not bo dependent upon the charity of the county. It . is an erpeuso from which no return is given, and in the performance of his duties makes the chief of police subservient to the wishes of other criminal powers.
