VOL. I. XO. 285. CARRIE NATION GRABS AN AX Wenatchee Woman Wilfully Smashes One Hundred Sixty Bottles of Baneful Booze. Wenatchee valley has a real live Carrie Nation in its midst. Because it would be unkind, and because no good end would be served, the names of the parties involved will not be made public. But here's th e story. Saturday a telephone message came into the central police station, asking immediate assistance to sub due a man said to be drunk and run ning amuck in the bosom of his fam ily. Marshal Ferguson was summoned, but found that the house wherein the trouble had occurred was without his police jurisdiction; so it was up to the sheriff. "The man is chasing his wife w-ith a hammer," the telephone message, "and some officer must come at once."
