Through Freeman & Co.'s Kxprcss. ii The New World arrived this morning at about 2 o'clock, bringing us the Bay papers, from which we extract the following: — Mr. Annis Merrill has been robbed of jewelry, plate, &c, amounting in value to $600. :u Attempt to Fire the Verandah.—Yesterday morning, about four o'clock, the inmates of the Ferandah Saloon on the corner of Kearny and Washington streets, were awakened by a dense volume of smoke which filled ! the room, and nearly suffocated those asleep in the house.
