"VANITY FAIR" [Newspaper Article] — The Canberra Times — 4 November 1926

"VANITY FAIR" Aptly termed "Vanity Fair," the little ' shop near the Opera House in Paris which supplies tourists with nil sorts' of labels to adorn, their luggage is re- ported to be having considerable suc- cess. The genlu-5 who inaugurated it was evidently aware of the extent of this little falling on the,,part,of the. majority of travellers. The ' most humble British worker spending a week-end In Paris can go back with magnificent labels pasted all over his Gladstone bag, Indicating that' he has just returned from the "Palacb Hotel,' Tlmbucloo," or the "Majc.sUc Hou-i, Tokio," dr that he lids been staying at some of the finest and most expensive hotels in Paris. This.is, .apparently,'a very common way of impressing peo' ple. These labels are of all prices, some of the most exclusive costing ¿ibout fifty francs, xio doubt the ho- tels concerned are quite content to( supply labels to this enterprising man who trades oh the vanity of his fellow men, for it is a very good and cheap ...

LOOSE UNIVERSAL JOINTS [Newspaper Article] — The Canberra Times — 4 November 1926

LOPSE UNIVERSAL JOINTS Looseness Art certain paita of the car can be tolerated provided there is no danger involved, ,but- this ila 'not pcrmlssable in the case 01 loose uni, versal joints. Here or¡e is dealing with big forces; engine> torque, movements* of the^ propeller shaft due to road in- equalities and brake action which tends" to exert a'force opposite to that 'of ' the engine. t It ' may not seem to troubfe the owner to 'have1 the 'joints rattle 'for _ jerk, but that depenas on how far-sighted he is. Sooner or later, 'this free action ol' parts actuated' by such strong forces will chip the .pinion of the ring gear teeth.
