The Rabbit Problem C.S.I.R.O. BROCHURE [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 9 March 1951

The Rabbit Problem C.S.I.R.O. BROCHURE C.S.I.R.O.'s plans for rabbit re search have been released in a short brochure, "The Rabbit Problem-A Survey of Research Ne'eds and Pos sibilities," copies. of which can be obtained from the secretary of the Commonwealth Scienific and Indus trial Research Organisation, 314 Aibert street, East Melbourne. The recent success with myxoma tosis, the virus disease which is kil ling large numbers of rabbits along the Murray river system, seems likely to provide a practical con trol measure along difficult river frontages-the harbour from which rabbits may spread in plague years. The report sounds a cautionary ote, however, and emphasizes the ifficulty of finding an easy and uni ersally applicable solution to the rabbit problem, and the importane o making the most effective use of existing control methods. A sur vey of research possibilities in the light of present knowledge shows no line of investigation that seems likely to lead to any revolutionar i...

Time IMMEMORIAL [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton, Taggerty and Acheron Express — 9 March 1951

Time IMMEMORIAL -Most of us take for granted things which'are not proven fac ts. We assume, for example, that stone - any kink of stone - is as enduring as time itself. Walking through any old Cem etery, one sees evidence a plenty that forms of it deteriorate faster, much faster than others. Geologists know the difference, they have pronounced Harcourt Granite as "Gianite of finest composition, ideally suited for monumental purposes." Geo. Ferries, of Castlemaine, Monumental and Building Mas ons, are proud to use this mater ial, in fact they are Harcourt Granite specialists. Their district agent is Mr. Chas. Norbury, from whom full information may be obtained. An outbreak of fire on Mi. C. Chisholm's property this week was quickly extinguished.
