S Y D N E Y.   We learn with entire satisfaction, that     the preparations for the ensuing harvest   are anxiously attended to in all the diffe- rent settlements; and that notwithstand- the long succession of unfavourable weather; that many farmers have finished sowing and that others whose   situations were more exposed to impedi-   ment from the lodgment of the waters,   have used every exertion to catch the     flying season. Some, however, divested by the last flood that unhappily deluged   the Banks of Hawkesbury not only of                       their next year's seed but unfortunately of   their sole dependence for the immediate         &a...

Family Notices [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser — 1 June 1806

DEATH.         At two in the morning of Tuesday         last died of a consumptive complaint long contracted, THOMAS ROWLEY Esq.   Captain Commandant of the Loyal Syd-   ney Association, and formerly Captain   in His Majesty's New South Wales     Corps.     The philanthropy and many eminent     virtues which adorned the character of that worthy Gentleman have too long been a subject of universal admiration to admit eulogium here: nor is it in the   power of language to convey the slightest   conception of the regret occasioned by   the event to his family and numerous         friends of the very first repectability in       the Colony—in which sensation all clas-   ses of inhabitants participate.

BENCH OF MAGISTRATES. SATURDAY, JUNE 7. William Page was brought forward,           again to answer the charge of breaking         from custody and taking to the woods,     notwithstanding the extreme lenity that had been extended to him when last   brought before the Bench upon charges of the same kind, when his offence was   heightened by the numerous thefts he had committed while at large. He had now likewise been guilty of atrocities     which could only have been effected   from a fixed determination upon acts of wanton mischief, the gratification derived   from doing which could have been his     only inducement to the commission. -   He was reminded from the Bench, that his former misconduct had been over-  ...

SYDNEY. [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser — 8 June 1806

SYDNEY.           Yesterday a complaint was set up before   the bench of Magistrates by Thomas           Pryer against H. Davis, whereby the former stated having sustained consid-   erable damage by his growing crop of vegetables &c. being destroyed by swine   without yoke or ring making an inroad   through his paling, Davis did not posi-   tively deny that his pigs were accessories                           to the fact, but doubted not that other       criminals of the same description had shared the booty. It was likewise a matter of doubt in him, whether it was not the   duty of the complainant to have secured   the offenders, when in actual comis- sion of the crime alleged, in which case the charge might have been justly laid & &...
