From Our Correspondents. COBAR[?]U. [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Budget — 28 March 1906

From Our Correspondents. COBARdU. Tub Cobargo show was destined not to pass off without the inclusion of an exciting event not on the pro gramme. About 4 o'clock on the second day Master Roy Gourlay, while riding towards the show ground from the first gate lost con trol of his horse and the boy s terrified screams only served to make the animal go at a faster pace. The efforts of a few to head off the horse were of no avail, and on it raced in the direction of the crowded showground. Passing through the main entrance the horse turned to the right, and, for tunately for the many people standing near the rails, the run away collided with a horse attached to Air. Corrigan's coach, knocking it down. . The impact had the effect of stopping the wild oharge and 'also, unseated the terrified rider who clung to the reins and had one foot caught in the stirrup. Many willing hands soon came to his rescue and except for a great fright he was none the worse for his perilous experience^ Had: not ...

THE RAINFALL- ? On Tuesday heavy rain fell over tho southern districts, and in some localities floods were experienced. The Crick Trial. [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Budget — 31 March 1906

- The Crick Trial. The trial of Mr. W.' P. Crick on Thursday last was no doubt highly satisfactory to that gentleman and his palB who greeted him as he left the court, but to the public the the whole proceedings rend more like a comic page from the most comic of Gilber'tian operas.. And it served to add yet another to the unsatisfactory trials which have taken place in New South 'Wales when the person accused has been in public life or has a political in fluence behind him. The Budgkt says this much without iu any way making a suggestion as to Mr. Crick's guilt or innocence. This paper has the greatest regard for his acknowledged abilities and political integrity, and believes that had the trial been fought out on the facts Crick would have been honorably acquitted. The farcical trial was all the more regrettable because a portion of the public all along cynically and suggestively remarked that 'Crick would\ get clear alright.' Of course, ? Mr. Close was the sole cause of tho col la...
