The women got off to a slow start and couldn't get themselves back on track. The Lady Spikers had a good showing in the Allegheny Tournament on September 10th and 11th. They finished the tournament with a 2-2 record, earning them third place. The women opened with a 3-0 loss to Mount Union, but answered with a 3-0 win over Geneseo. The Lady Spikers sought revenge against Geneseo, they lost earlier in the season to them 3-0. They also rallied to beat Fredonia after being down 0-2. They finished the tour...

Pastime? [Newspaper Article] — Behrend Beacon (1998-2010) — 17 September 1999

Pastime? continued from page II ready lost interest. Each game has little or no importance. With a onehundred and sixty two game schedule you can lose seventy of them and still make it into the playoffs. Football is entirely different. Every game is played with intensity. Only sixteen games make up the regular season, so every game counts. Games are played on the weekends with a few exceptions so it is very easy to follow your favorite teams. Baseball games air every night, but unless you are a fan of the hometown team you won't get to see your favorite team in action. Baseball has been fighting a losing battle for years. If the same trend keeps up in ihe years to follow football will be faking over as America's Favorite Pastime.

Lions win 'old-fashioned bar fight' with Pitt by Kimberly Jones Knight-Ridder Newspapers UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Ninetyfive games or not. the Pitt-Penn Slate rivalry may have ventured into a new dimension on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium. "An old-fashioned bar fight in the back alley," was how Nittany Lion fullback Mike Cerimele - wilh sweat dripping down his forehead and a smile covering his face - described No. 2 Penn State's 20-17 escape from the Panthers. And who could argue'.' Bench war breaks out in dorms as Perry and Niagara battle it out by Angela Majoris staff writer Niagara Hall's porch filled with 60 to 70 angered and determined students at 9:45 last Sunday night. The group assembled and marched toward Perry Hall in an effort to retrieve two of the porch's benches, which had been taken by residents of Perry. Expecting the benches to be on one of the porches of Perry Hall, the Niagara residents found that they were going to have to go farther than they expected to get their benches back. When they found that the benches were not outside, Niagara students got into a pushing battle with Perry students to get through the doors and into the lobby. "I saw a whole bunch of people coming down from Niagara. Niagara came over here and there was a long pushing battle as they tried to get in. They couldn't get in the door so they came around from the other side. When they came in, Niagara threatened to take all the furniture if we didn't give them their...
