j the Boy onlSc ftnw j [Newspaper Article] — Farm Home — 1 February 1904

j the Boy onlSc ftnw j JUST A FRACTION . Did you ever stop to think It Is the fractions which go to make tip success or failure ? A horse race , or a foot race is won by a fraction of a second . He who is behind loses that which means defeat , perhaps discouragement and future failure . A quarter of a minute late in catching a train means hours of delay ; It means thousands of dollars ; it may mean life , A quarter of a cent in the wheat market means victory or defeat , perhaps wealth or poverty . A bullet entering a man s body just a quarter of an inch to the right or to the left might mean life or death . A victory is seldom gained easily or by long leads , either financially , -morally , mentally or worldly . It is the . man or woman who / is just a little quicker , just a little brighter , just a little sooner , just a little stronger or just a little something else , who makes up success . This world , as President Roosevelt recently stated , is full of workmen who can do prett...

A recent number of a magazine published at Harvard University gives a list of the first ten scholars of each of the classes that graduated in the sixth decade of the last century at that Institution . The list is itself significant aa regards individuals . The list is also more significant in respect to high rank in college as giving ground for the assurance of distinction in life itself .
