The Citizen. FRIDAY. M AllUIT 21. 1570. Congress. Congress having assembled in special session the whole country "will be in a etatc of anxious suspense for the next few days until it is determine J, whether the sitting will be a f hort one confined to the business for which it was called, or a long term of unlimited discussion and legislation. We of the territorias are as greatly interested in the matter as any; for we are at that stage of progress when we want the business communities of the states free to give a just measure of their attention to what we have to offer; and there is no question but that as the session of Congress now entered upon shall extend toward the Summer, the tendency will be to distract and unsettle all business enterprise. The danger is in the fact that the majority in Congress has expressed a violonl determination to secure the repeal of the general election law and the jury test oath act, by attaching such repeal to tome regular anoronriation bill; or -a...

The Citizen. Finn A Y. APRIL 4. 1S70. A Word of Caution. The Citizen is not a " bull " in the mining market, ami has never express ef extravagant opinions in regard to the discoveries heretofore made in this Territory, or touching- future develop ments here in the busing of mining. We are quietly satisfied that many, if not all, of our well prospected dis tricts have locations within their lim its, which, with patience, energy and honorable dealing, will well repay the investments of capital and labor neces sary to put their merits to a test. There are some magnificent finds, b'U the country cannot, and does not, place dependence for its reputation as a great mining center upon those. The mining business, in the long run, is built upon a basis of numerous good average properties. Bonanzas may make a country for a while, but they may also break it up disastrously, by a sudden collapse such as sometimes happens. And possessing the faith we do in the resources of our districts under fa...

The Citizen FRIDAY. APRIL 11. 1S79. Clifton Copper Mines. 3Iessr. Edwards and Cutler, re. tlirned Tuesday evening from Clifton where they have been to inspect the workings of the copper furnaces in operation there at the works of Messrs. Lesinsky & Co. These furnaces arc copper-plated ami arc the invention of the Lesinsky brothers and so far as known Clifton is the only place where they are in use. Mr. Edwards informs us that the reduction of copper ores by this pro cess is a great success ; about 20 tons of ore are smelted daily, producing8,000 pounds of copper. The Lesinsky brothers were several years experi menting before they found a furnace that would stand. Since they have introduced the copper plate they have had no trouble. The process is not only a great success but it is also very simple. About 200 men are now employed ut Clifton at the mine and furnaces, and in furnishing wood, charcoal &c. Mr. Edwards examined these furnaces for the purpose of reporting to some p...

si ! it J The Citizek. Fit WAT. APRIL 18. 1870. THE ARIZONA BONANZAS. Tombstone and Other Interests'. Surveyor-General John "Wasson litis just returned from a visit to Tombstone mining district, to the mill-sites on the San Pedro and to the southern and southeastern slopes of the lluachuca mountains. He says that the object of his visit was to notice the general char acteristics of the sections of country named, as he had never before scon them. Although disposed to be a" bear" in mining matters, he says the Tomb stone mines have never been as highly represented as their actual merits plainly justify, and that the owners of leading claims there have been abso lutely modest in speaking of them. His time w limited to less than a whole day, and therefore only made a personal inspection of the Tough Nut, Contention and Lucky Cuss, and took a hasty glance at some others. The ore in sisht in the mines named is simply immense, and of its richness the assayers all testify' and the appear an...
